Enfield Linkletter (Finished)

Post by Enfield on Tue Feb 25, 2014 6:23 pm

Name: Enfield Linkletter, AKA Eli Linkletter

Age: 27.

Gender:[/b] Male

Appearance: Enfield stands 5' 7", weighs 140 pounds, and has a somewhat thin appearance, which of course includes his relatively narrow face and overall features reminiscent of his Germanic descent. He spends more time in his store. His deserty-sand colored hair and blue eyes match perfectly with his usual attire, a short-sleeved white dress shirt, a black tie, and a black vest, along with matching slacks, (black) and at any time he may be seen wearing headphones comprised of brown leather for the headstrap and brass on the speakers. He usually also wears aviator goggles, having transition lenses (Those ones that go from bluish to black after exposed to sunlight for a while) The casing is brass, while the strap is made of brown leather. Usually his clothes and form in general are powdered with a thin layer of light dust, simply due to the environment.

Equipment:

Goggles: They're just stylish goggles.

Armored Laptop: A HP Envy dv7 (Runs Win 8, I just thought that was standard on those. <.<), which is identical to the regular Envy other than the fact it is in a heavily armored fire-resistant, waterproof, and airtight case when closed and locked. The locking system itself is one of those four-wheel locks you find on briefcases. The case is brass-plated on the uplifted parts, as well as leather on the recessed pieces. He can play World of Tanks while sitting in his tank. Hurrah.

His main weapon is a brass-plated AMT AutoMag IV, chambered in .45 Win. Mag. It fires from an 8-round single stack magazine, of which he carries three. I have this feeling this would probably hurt if you shot it quickly. >.>

His secondary weapon usually kept under the counter of his store is a Remington 1187. 10 - gauge with a 26" barrel and a tube extension, as well as being bored out and rechambered to accept the 10gague... Shells? -shotguns are still not my thing yo-

Bassoon: He sometimes brings his Conn-Selmer 1432B Bassoon with him, along with the sheet music for Variations on a Korean Folk Song, Great Locomotive Chase, Joy-Revisited, and Moscow 1941. The body is black maple while the keys are drop-forged nickel.

A34 Comet Mk. II Type B Hull: With a weight of 35.4 tons, measuring 21ft 6in (Excluding gun) by 10ft 1in, and being 8ft 6in tall, This is Enfield's heaviest vehicle. (I mean, his only other vehicle is a '79 Jeep DJ-5.) The armor is 102mm at the front, 76mm at the sides and rear, as well as the turret being 116/76/76. The gun is the OQF 77mm Gun Mk. II, firing APDS rounds, and able to penetrate 208mm of steel out to 1,500 meters, falling off at 1mm every 50m beyond that.. The space within is somewhat limited due to the Christie suspension, though the engine, having been stroked to output more power, now outputting 750HP, as well as the transmission switched out to give it a top speed of 84 MPH. The tank carries 61 rounds, which are fed into the weapon on a large belt-like system. Enfield has added in a screen and extra control systems so he many pilot the tank alone. (Legal for him to own due to his Type IX, X, and XI FFLs, as well as his FELs for being a Type XX Manufacturer of High Explosives, Dealer of High Explosives, and Importer of High Explosives.) The weapon's secondary weapons are two Besa Machine Guns, firing 7.92mm Mauser ammunition. (5,175 rounds.) An interchangable barrel is laid on the engine deck of the tank, a 3.7in AT Howitzer. When the ammunition is switched out, he carries 50 rounds of HE, 5 rounds of HEAT, and 15 rounds of Buckshot. fed in on a similar belt-type system. The engine, a Rolls-Royce Meteor Mark III V12, running on Petrol. The operation range of the vehicle is 750 miles, as Enfield has added external, though heavily armored fuel tanks.

Race: Human

Abilities: He can deliver mail, cook, drive his tank like no other (Extremely well, but who else can drive a Comet that wasn't enlisted in the military to do so?), and run a store. He's a fairly good shot with his shotgun and pistol. What more do you want from a high school grad? Other than my sass

Going on about driving his tank, he has that A34 Comet Owner's Manual. So he followed the instructions and memorized them, like Driver's Ed booklets, but for a tank. That might be in this sheet somewhere, already. <.< [it was, haha!]

Onto computer gaming... He only plays WoT. Has a 60% WR, 5.0K/D ratio, 12k/1Dmg Ratio, he's a pro. Has every tank in game because if he ain't runnin' his store he's playing that game. Plot twist: He learned how to drive his Comet via WoT

Organization: None

Personality: Enfield prides himself on trying to be the nicest person you will ever meet, being polite to the extreme, possibly even to a creepy amount. He likes vintage things aww well as sitting down for a couple hours to play video games. In purpose his kindness is honestly to lower the guard of others, probably sell them more stuff they have been convinced they need. He desires, one day, to have enough tanks to fill his 7,500 square foot shop on his property. If only for lulz, anyway.

Otherwise, when frustrated or ticked off, he can be sassy, swear a decent amount, etc. He loves "Traditional" armored combat and small-scale battles. Say, one family vs another. Cliche, but cool. He's a bit adventurous, being mindful of dangerous situations but proceeding in an appropriate manner if he believes the reward of said risk to be worth it. Otherwise he ain't afraid of no fancy shit, or the dark. Doesn't believe all that vampire crap either. Silly teenagers and their sparkley vampires. Or stupid wannabe gangsters that try to mug people and stuff. That don't fly with him. Same thing with governments that oppose liberty and freedom. So say, that corrupt sheriff in the movie Tank. Yes, that just might go down. Except the track is attractive and there's less unbelievable movie stuff, more badass tanking.

Rank:  None

Biography: Born 1987 in Woodsboro, Texas, into an "average" family, A mother who worked at the relatively small town post office and a father who ran one of only three general stores spread across the farming town. He was enrolled in the Woodsboro Independent School District, at first attending the elementary school of the same name as the town, then a similarly named highschool. Shaped was his interest in armored combat and vehicles by his father, who previously had been enlisted in the military as a tank mechanic during the Gulf War before settling down and having a family. A fairly decent student, he took a liking to his computer classes, as well as Concert/Marching band, in which he played a Bassoon, except due to the fact one does not simply march a bassoon, he played a trumpet as well. Yeah, he maintained his slightly above average grades all the way through highschool.

Speaking of which, he managed to find that being brought up by a very manners-heavy household, which demanded respect, he managed to be quite well liked by his teachers and the other staff around campus, if only due to being pleasant to be around. He only ran into those jerks known as a Bully a few times, who ended up leaving him along because their whole point is to make you feel bad, which is pretty hard when the person never stops smiling and being nice to you. Not exactly introverted or extroverted, persay, He didn't go out of his way to talk to people but he wouldn't really try to avoid it. He just went with the flow, man~

Eventually, at the age of 18 and a couple weeks after his graduation, he took up one of the town's two postal routes, earning $45k a year at first, working at his parent's general store on his days off. In '10 he signed up for the World of Tanks beta, instantly loving it and getting pretty deep into the game.(Just paid, gave then his email, revieved the box set in the mail, clicked "Join RU Server Cluster, and enjoyed the game.) Though he wasn't a wallet warrior. He actually earned his stuff. And relied heavily on Google Translate. Because, Y'know. Russian Servers.

At the age of 22, he gave up his postal route to simply run the store, in conjunction with his parents. Really. His life is uneventful, just makes money, gets some special licenses including his three FFLs (IX, X, XI) and FEL (XX) His love of WWII armored warfare had grown to the point he actually decided to spend some of his earnings buying a Comet. The vehicle, bought from an overseas dealer in Turkey, cost $35k. Due to his licenses, he was able to legally purchase the 17-pounder ammunition, as well as the 7.92mm ammunition for the BESAS. (Technically, if he wished he could make ammunition as well. Probably for the 17-pounder.) He decided that he was going to buy it because he could, and it pleased his interests. I mean, why not? Actually deciding to do something most people probably don't (From my experiance) he purchased the A34 Comet owner's manual, which gave him detailed instructions on operation, care, fueling, and other things.

-Insert Pokemon-Style Journey Begin thingy-

Terrible. Just terrible. Scrap it.

As opposed to those morbidly obese people who live at the gym.

He wears saftey-type goggles, similar to early aviation goggles, with variable tint lenses (Between clear-lots of shades of blue-black) These are hooked up to his HUD to display ambient temperature, his hearbeat (through sensing the pulse from where the strap lays against his head) as well as air pressure, ammunition count (When he draws his pistol) and the temperature of any substance he highlights with the laser he's integrated into the top-left of the left side lens. (It appears as a mere screw hole.)

Most of this stuff is general. I'd like more specifics on color and style. HUD thing seems unrealistic and metagamish at the moment.

Also, collars up on dress shirts look dumb as hell.

The locking system itself is a fingerprint-scanner, similar to what is on the HP Envy. The computer is running on his own operating system, a text-only interface designed to be impossible to hack (Due to running on a unique operating system employed nowhere else in the world) as well as resist crashes, and thus loss of scientific data. It holds all of his previous experiments' results. The case is brass-plated on the uplifted parts, as well as leather on the recessed pieces.

Probably not hack proof. Also, you're about as advanced as Unix.

Goggles don't really make sense as to how they exist. It's like AR vision that can do anything and has some sort of uplink with your gun of all things.

I don't know why he has a tank.

Also, he's an extremely good shot with his pistol if the times demand it. Also, an expert with CAD design, so if he has some down time, he's probably drafting up another part for something to make it better.

I bet he's the best hacker on the site. No one better than this guy. Not a single hacker in the world can compete with him.

Engineering: While CAD design has been covered, he has extensive mechanical and electrical knowledge, picked up at CTU, he could build a car entirely from scratch after drawing one up on his computer, printing the blueprints, and buying the materials.

Finally, while at CTU, Enfield picked up ASL, as a reasonable amount of his engineering classmates were deaf. (Those ones happened to be the most fun o "talk" to, as well.)

Is there some correlation between engineers and deafness that I'm not aware of? How many deaf people are also engineers learning at the same school?

bad wrote:Biography: Born 1987 in Woodsboro, Texas, a month early by c-section, Enfield was a rather small and thin individual through elementary and the first bit of high school, reaching 5' 7", though still being relatively thin. He preformed extremely well in school, not always the best, but relatively high in his classes, focusing on IT and Engineering, his favorite being Engineering 1-2 through 7-8 in high school, and his performance in those classes earned him a scholarship to CTI.

That was fast.

No backstory here wrote:During his time there, he picked up ASL after about a year and a half from other students and staff at the institute. Also, he took on computer/IT classes as his secondaries, receiving a Masters in Mechanical and Software engineering. At the end of his time with higher education, he moved back to Woodsboro to help his family out with their general store. (And, mainly because though he'd saved up money, he still had a bit of debt. Plus, Poor college student.) Around '06, he'd participated in the closed alpha testing for World of Tanks, quickly becoming a huge fan. In '08, he purchased the hull and turret of an A34 Comet, Mk II, a type B hull (The B is wider and longer slightly, and nicer looking in my opinion) which he then began restoring.

Wait, so now the teachers are deaf, too? How many fucking deaf people are at this engineering college?

That all went by fast. Several years in a couple sentences.

I don't know if civilians can just buy tank parts off eBay (my search says "no"), but does this indebted college who's already wasting his degree working at a general store really think the best use of his limited funds is buying pieces of a tank?

And here, we see our extremely polite friend now in today's time, still helping out with his family's store, and being a gentleman to all who pass through the little town.

This biography is incredibly uneventful. He's sort of just there for the whole thing, it's too short, and none of it really gives us any motivation as to why he does any of this (personality sure didn't, either).

So the laptop isn't the bulletproof component, but merely fitted in a bulletproof BRIEFCASE that does all the protecting, eh? Just need to see what goes on, but yeah, Windows 8, processing? Just in general, not required, but would be nice to know the OS of your computer.

Slight problem, AMT AutoMag IV isn't chambered for .45 ACP, but for the .45 Winchester Magnum.

Remington 11-87 likewise is chambered not for 10 gauge, but for 12 gauge, unless you specifically bored it to 10 gauge size? Anyways, the longer the shotgun tube, the more ammunition it holds.

The tank? I'mma leave it to someone well versed in legalese and armored vehicle knowledge to deal with that, otherwise I'll swing another look at it. Though my concern is more about how you attained actual ammunition for the tank, without arousing suspicion or the like rather.

ONTO PART TWO! Your history, the story that is his, or hers, or whomever you want it to be. Like John said before, a bit too short, but I suppose that partly has to do with the fact there are no guidelines to follow upon. I'll just put them down, though not required, would help in your case.

- Interaction between Enfield and his parents, they are there, or at least something to have shaped his life and interest in tanks. Could be as dramatic as watching a WWII movie, or as mundane as watching a beetle easily plow through ants.

- Though basic, why not also explore his high school life? It must've formed a basis on his views on things. Doesn't have to be long, like all else.

Well, those are the two that can fatten up your history.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't in '10 the actual time where beta, in Russia, where they beta tested World of Tanks?

That being said, address these concerns well, and I'll slap you with an approval, or just work it out with you till we can get you one.

Yes, shells, that's the word for the shotgun. ANYWAYS, time to look through my handy checklist and check your guns and stuff.

You may have missed this, and partly to blame so did I, but even if he owns the tank, can he drive it? So nobody would question you, slap that into your ability.

As for Russia, the beta being there, how'd that work? Usually he'd need an address that'd lead there, and an e-mail to boot as far as I am aware, just so you'd know. Just need an explanation, 'nuff said.

Now, onward you go. Edit away and be close to the tankiness, so you can go through your rampage of tolerance and love towards hippies that abhor violence. Those bastards.

Biography is surprisingly controlled and believable.

Mehr detail and this can pass.

Abilities are still lacking in description. He's just average at all of this? Nothing else to report? Can't do anything else of note?

Personality is essentially the same other than a tiny blurb at the bottom.

Well, he is kinda average, but I added some more stuff. Hopefully that helps me get a cardboard star for effort.

So lenka. Personality wise.  basically what i'm seeing is a guy thats creepily nice, not that im knocking that he's your dude. Who likes tanks, and is interested in collecting certain stuff, and will defend his property if he needs to, who can get irritated sometimes. I hate to say but other than the first thing i listed what identifies this man as an individual and unique human being? I mean you've even typed various times that your literally short on material for the personality which is arguably the biggest part of any character, after all a guy who shoots things with one significant character trait is more like a dime a dozen npc.  Not a character designed for the sheer purpose of playing a role with inside of an in depth world. Designed to be entertaining for a long time to both player and the person(s) being played with. I mean you write he's average which is fine but not even average people are this bland, you listed the common characteristics of nearly ninety five percent of human beings.

Actually looking back at it again you do seem to have a strange tank fetish but i don't even count that as necessarily a unique trait. You can bet that pretty much everyone has a strange fetish be it with tanks or not. While this above comment is mainly satirical it still doesn't change the fact that your guy sounds like Brick from the Anchorman movie. Just replace lamp with tank and there you go. You live in a supernatural world with monsters and magic and other things that should never see the light of day, your an imperfect human being with wants, fears, desires, maybe some obsessions maybe some great disdain, hatred, passion laziness excitability a code of morals strict or loose maybe you just want to watch the world burn maybe you couldn't care less, maybe you want to help the people, in short your character should be MORE.

In shorter i dont care how you do it short of plagiarism, just make this man a human being.

Store Update

Post by Enfield on Fri Aug 15, 2014 9:47 am

Due to a relativelyish recent break in by a man in a cheap green suit, Enfield has decided that a bit of extra defensive measures are required, just in that case he doesn't particularly want to put himself at risk by remaining visible above the counter, or maybe stand around and wait for the impending danger to close in. The upgrades are as follows:

• "Bulletproof" windows replacing all of the traditional windows.

• Four claymores, directed out into the store, affixed behind a relatively thin piece of wood in the counter. The wood is 1/16" thick, and the claymores are on a goon switch type button under the counter. The entire back of the counter is replaced with steel, as well as the shelves infront of it no longer having merchandise facing the counter, having now wood covering a 1.5" steel plate. The counter backing is 5.5", shotgun is still also under the counter, though he more carries it out to his vehicles if he leaves.

•He added a better AC unit.

•Flooring is now polished wooden planks.

•Vintage cash register still cool as ever, now bolted to the counter, even though the cash itself is in a locked sliding drawer flush to the steel back of the counter, though it's encased in steel. Keep your grubby paws off my dough.

Pretty sure claymores armed and ready in the store are several health and safety violations on their own.

Then I disapprove because of your having live explosives in a place of business.

Could I get votes on the explosives and the rest of the refurbishing made separate, please? I have a slight feeling that is the only problem.

Due to a not so recent break in by a man in a cheap green suit, Enfield has decided that a bit of extra defensive measures are required. The upgrades are as follows:

• "Bulletproof" windows replacing all of the traditional windows. These new windows are the kind that have that coating so you can't see in.

•Enfield now wears a bulletproof vest underneath his clothes. Less comfortable, but meh.

Um, second one works pretty well, you probably get some business I'm sure so you could probably afford this. I'll approve of this, second one.
